SJTU Global Innovation Management Alumni Association's Medical and Healthcare Branch Visits Prismlab to Explore the Future of 3D Printing in Healthcare
On April 27, a delegation from the Medical and Healthcare Branch of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Global Innovation Management Alumni Association visited Shanghai Prismlab Technology Co., Ltd. ("Prismlab") for a company tour and exchange. The two sides held in-depth discussions on innovative applications of 3D printing in the medical sector and deeper industry-university-research collaboration, jointly exploring how digital manufacturing can inject new momentum into healthcare.
As one of China's leading companies in the 3D printing sector, Prismlab has remained technology-driven and has been deeply engaged in the industry for nearly two decades. Its self-developed micro/nano 3D printing technology, featuring a globally leading precision of 2 microns, breaks through the manufacturing bottlenecks of traditional precision devices and supports the company's ambition to become a leading player in fields such as ophthalmology and cardiovascular minimally invasive surgery. The delegation's visit also served as a vivid example of the integration of alumni networks and industrial resources.

During the meeting, Chairman Hou Feng and Prismlab's senior management team warmly received the visitors and reviewed the company's journey from the clear-aligner sector to becoming a benchmark enterprise in micro/nano 3D printing. He noted that Prismlab has always been guided by market demand and has brought 3D printing technology from the laboratory into scaled production through an industrialized approach to "limited personalization". Today, the company holds more than 60% of China's annual clear-aligner production market share and has achieved efficient mass production through a 24-hour unmanned "lights-out factory", becoming a dual leader in domestic 3D printing applications.

At Prismlab's Songjiang headquarters laboratory, the visiting guests observed the company's world-leading micro/nano 3D printing equipment and innovative applications up close. Each application attracted strong interest and lively discussion.

Chairman Hou Feng stated, "The value of technological innovation lies in solving real-world pain points. Prismlab will continue to focus on high-end medical manufacturing and work with partners across industries to make 3D printing a true driver of the Healthy China strategy." Members of the Medical and Healthcare Branch of the SJTU Global Innovation Management Alumni Association spoke highly of Prismlab's technological roadmap and expressed expectations for deeper resource integration through the alumni platform, with the goal of jointly advancing the intelligent upgrading of the medical industry.
